More Than Housing: AANM’s 8th Annual Statewide Volunteer Day Demonstrates the Power of Multifamily
More than 350 multifamily professionals. Communities across New Mexico. One day dedicated to giving back.
The Apartment Association of New Mexico’s 8th Annual Statewide Volunteer Day once again demonstrated what can happen when our industry comes together for a common purpose: making New Mexico a better place to live.
Each year, multifamily professionals from across the state step away from their offices, properties, maintenance shops, and day-to-day responsibilities to volunteer their time and talents in the communities they serve. This year, more than 350 individuals participated in projects supporting organizations and causes that provide vital resources to New Mexicans.
Volunteers served at food banks, animal rescues, Ronald McDonald House, homes serving people with disabilities, equestrian therapy programs, animal control facilities, senior centers, and other community organizations. Some sorted and distributed food. Others painted, cleaned, repaired, organized, landscaped, cared for animals, or provided an extra set of hands wherever they were needed.
The projects may have looked different from one location to another, but they shared the same purpose: giving back to the communities we call home.
A Day Recognized Across New Mexico
The day is officially recognized through a proclamation signed by the Governor of New Mexico, acknowledging the multifamily industry's commitment to volunteerism and community service.
That recognition is especially meaningful because AANM's Volunteer Day reflects something that has long been part of AANM's culture and that of its members.
Our industry is in the business of providing homes, but creating a better place to live extends beyond the walls of an apartment community. Strong communities also depend on healthy neighborhoods, access to food, services for families and seniors, resources for people with disabilities, safe places for animals, and nonprofit organizations that serve those in need.
This Is AANM Cares
AANM's Statewide Volunteer Day is also one of the clearest examples of what #AANMCares is all about.
AANM Cares was created to tell a story that too often goes untold: the tremendous amount of good being done by New Mexico's multifamily housing industry.
Every year, our members donate to local charities, volunteer with nonprofit organizations, support families in need, improve neighborhoods, participate in community projects, and invest in the places where their residents and employees live. Much of that work happens quietly, without recognition or publicity.
They show who our industry really is.
Behind every apartment community are people who live in New Mexico, raise families here, employ New Mexicans, support local businesses, volunteer in their neighborhoods, and care deeply about the future of our state.
Providing a Better Place to Live
At AANM, our mission to provide a better place to live in New Mexico has always meant more than housing alone.
It means strengthening neighborhoods.
It means supporting vital community resources.
It means helping organizations that care for our neighbors when they need it most.
And it means recognizing that the health of our industry is directly connected to the health of the communities we serve.
For eight years, AANM's Volunteer Day has brought that philosophy to life. What began as an idea in the boardroom has grown into a statewide demonstration of what the multifamily industry can accomplish when hundreds of people come together with a shared commitment to their communities.
