Resident Help

I am a resident at an apartment community. Can you help me with an issue/complaint or can you give me a copy of my lease?

While you are entitled to a copy of your lease, we do not have copies of any leases, and you will need to ask your apartment community for a copy if you did not receive one when you moved in or you have misplaced it. The Apartment Association of New Mexico (AANM) is a trade organization for companies that own and manage apartment communities and affiliated companies that provide products or services to the apartment industry. We are unable to answer questions from residents or respond to any inquiries. If you are having a legal issue, we recommend you contact an attorney who specializes in landlord-tenant law in New Mexico. The law governing landlord-tenant law in New Mexico is entitled the "Uniform Owner-Resident Relations Act," and AANM does sell a 68 page booklet that contains these statutes for $15.

Are all apartment communities in New Mexico required to be members of AANM?

Membership with AANM is voluntary. Apartment communities are affiliated through the membership of their owner and/or management company. Most professionally managed apartment homes in New Mexico are currently members of AANM as they are dedicated to operating under the law and providing quality rental housing.
