Providing Residents a Copy of the NMUORRA

As you should now be aware, the NM Real Estate Commission put new rules into effect on January 1, 2019. If you missed that notification in November of last year, you can get up to date here.

One of those rules was a requirement to provide a copy of the New Mexico Uniform Owner-Resident Relations Act to your residents when signing a lease agreement. This is for new leases as well as renewals. If you use the AANM forms, the online version has been updated and is available now. If you use our paper forms, the updated version should be ready for pick up by the end of February. And for our members that are part of the Click-n-Lease program (aka Bluemoon), a new addednum was added for residents to acknowledge receipt of the NMUORRA.

Initially, this rule required the NMUORRA to be a hard copy...all 47 pages of it! You are certainly welcome to purchase these as booklets from us. And if you have a resident that really wants a paper copy, you can refer them here. AANM was part of the discussions regarding these new rules and advocated electronic copies to be acceptable. As such, we have made an online link available to members. It's detailed in our lease agreement, and we are happy to share it with you as members.

If you have any questions or need the link, please contact our office. We look forward to continuing to serve you and your needs!
