Earning the prestigious Certified Pool/Spa Operator® Certification (CPO® Certification) gives you the latest information available for commercial and residential pools and spas. Earn your certification by taking a traditional 2-day classroom course and passing the exam.

Every person in the state of New Mexico who operates and/or maintains a swimming pool or sauna/hot tub for a commercial or public entity is required to have a valid pool certificate.

A CPO® Certification provides individuals with the basic knowledge, techniques, and skills of pool and spa operations. This training has helped protect millions of swimmers by reducing hazards at aquatic facilities. Meet your instructors!

Jose Murillo

Jose has over 15 years in the Apartment Industry along with an 8 year active duty military background.  During these last 15 years, Jose has managed and operated Class C Semi Public Pools throughout NM, working hand in hand with Local and out of State Pool Experts while working with multiple management companies in NM.  Jose currently is the Regional Maintenance Manager for Greystar's NM Region providing oversight guidance which includes training throughout the NM region regarding Maintenance and operations while staying compliant with the federal, state, and local municipalities.

  • Certified Pool Instructor/Proctor through the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance PHTA
  • Certified Pool inspector
  • Recreational Water Illness Certification  
  • EPA 608 Certified through ESCO institute

Michael Feely

Michael started maintaining swimming pools and hot tubs in 1995 as a maintenance worker for a local health club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1996, he started working as a sales rep for SODECO Modern Water Systems which specializes in helping commercial swimming pools and hot tubs.  In 2017, he was promoted to General Manager.  After 27 years years of assisting people with their pools and hot tubs, Michael accomplished his goal and became a CPO Instructor.
